“ I finally got the nerve to go to Hot Potato cafe even though I'm not a huge spud fan. I was surprised by the diversity of the menu, which gave me the option to not eat potatoes. I did have french fries twice- with the complimentary opener and with my turkey sandwich. I thought the fries were fine, but not the best I've tasted. I tried to salt them at the table, but the shaker was filled with cayenne pepper. Actually, that wasn't a big deal to me as I love to add spice to all my food. The sandwich portion was satisfying to me and I liked it. I wish the bacon was crispier though. I never have dessert, but I tried their chocolate mousse cake, which is a rare treat. I don't think I've had that dessert in 10 years. It was quite delicious. The service was exceptional. I was really impressed by the speed and ease of service. The server was great and he actually said goodbye to us when we left, which was refreshing. And the bill was reasonable for two people ($30). I'm glad I checked it out and would go back. ”

“ I've only ever ordered from HTP through Diningin- but I can say the following about those experiences- the food is GREAT. I don't know what it was like before Ramsey got ahold of the place- however, the food is really delightful now. The food generally comes quickly (which considering it's in fishtown and I'm basically in bella vista- cheers to that) The potato dishes are great, but so are the non -potato dishes. Overall, I'd definitely eat here again (and possible again and again). I need to actually get up there one of these days and see what the service is like. ”

“ The only reason why i went here was because my friend saw the episode with chef ramsey, other than that, i have never heard of this place and would never thought it would be sitting right there on girard ave which i pass by often!! My friend immediately told the host "hey i seen you on tv!" Too funny lol but once inside, the decor was really nice! tables, the chairs, everything about it was very nice! we had a great fast and friendly service. We even had free fries! it was soo good! Our appetizer came out fast! We ordered the fries, i forgot the name, and it came with a great cheesy sauce! And we even got a can of cajuny shaker for our fries, we even used it for the rest of the meals because it tastes good on everything! I ordered the crabcakes and it was delicious! My friend ordered sheppards pie and that was the first for me eating that and it was good as well! And for dessert I had the bread pudding, good and warm!! All the food made me stuffed and worth the money and it was not expensive either! LOVED IT!! I love this place and will definitely go back again! I would recommend this place to anybody in the area :) oh yea and its BYOB! ”

“ This is a BYOB, which means that you have to mess up pretty bad for me to not like your eatery. We arrived around 6:45 and there were a few tables taken. We sat down and our waiter opened our wine and put it on ice along with the beers that were brought. The decor was a substantial improvement over what used to be inside, however, the drop ceilings must go. I ordered the grilled fish and chips and shared a side of perogies as well as the fishtown fries. The fries were very very good and came with a tasty cheese sauce. The perogies were also tasty but there should have been maybe 1 more on the plate. The fish was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and the complete opposite of dry. The rub that they used gave it a great flavor but didn't overpower it. It was a very nice sized serving. The service was fantastic. I recommend that they push their closing hour to 9pm because 8pm seems a bit early to me. My girlfriend and I got the sweet potato cheesecake and german buttercake to go. Both were OK, but not great. The sweet potato cheesecake tasted too much like citrus and not enough like sweet potato and the graham cracker crust was oily. The german butter cake was much better, but different than the german butter cake I've had in the past . Think more of a warm sugar cookie type texture. All in all it was very good and I will be returning to indulge in one of their gigantic baked potatoes. ”
